Tree-Nation is an NGO that allows citizens and companies to plant trees all around the world and offset CO2 emissions. The projects are managed by local NGOs chosen with great care after passing a rigorous selection.
Tree-Nation has been constantly innovating and is the creator of many tools that are now commonly used by other NGOs in our sector. They invented the virtual tree, then the online forest and many other software tools in order to provide a unique technological solution aimed at breaking the distance between remote projects and their sponsors in developed countries.
Tree-Nation has evolved to help +7000 companies and +310,000 users to plant more than 11 million trees in more than 30 reforestation projects in 19 countries over the 6 continents.
Local community members enter a four-year training program to turn degraded land into a fertile Forest Garden (FGA). Experts elaborated it with over 30 years of experience of planting trees across the globe.
This focus on training shapes a sustainable, balanced ecos-systems that helps new forest to grow & delivers a local organic food supply chain. Moreover, Trees purify water and slow down rain by filtering it with their roots. This process inhibits erosion and reduces the risk of saturation and flooding.
Forest Gardens allows communities to plant their way out of poverty and they deliver on 3 keys outcomes; People, Planet, Profit. The holistic approach sets them apart from other tree-planting programs. The people that look after the Forest Gardens become food secure after year 2.
They have a countless supply of fresh organic produce, from which they generate income. Providing economic incentives and reach financial literacy is key to the program success.
Bio diversity returns to the land(see picture). Increasing Biodiversity improves the soil, which expand the food production potentiality of the field. All without using harmful chemicals. Helping families become food secure with time.
Forest gardens are regularly absorbing carbon. Trees are planted to fix nitrogen in the soil, bringing It back to life and producing lasting carbon sinks. Families learn land management and conservation to improve the long-term health and productivity of the land.
